Two Extraordinary Concerts
Senior Recitals
This past December, the Greenville community took advantage of
an opportunity to experience two extraordinary concerts presented
by two of the finest vocalists Greenville College has produced in
the past several years. Megan McPeak, a mezzo-soprano, and Jacob
Yang, a baritone, each performed their senior recitals in partial
fulfillment of requirements for a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education
(McPeak) and a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Yang).
Senior recitals, like senior art shows, focus on a single performer,
giving him or her a greater awareness and appreciation of the time
and preparation that goes into such a production.
The format for each recital is different. Most students perform
classical music during their first halfsinging
in German, French, or Italian is required and present more
contemporary music during the latter half, often making
use of a band and sound reinforcement. However, some students have
performed all classical recitals or explored selections
from musical theatre for their second half. Whatever your musical
tastes may be, senior recitals provide the perfect opportunity to
extend them even further.
