Request Access to "Additional Department Resources" Directory

If your department is interested in developing additional department resources on greenville.edu, please select a department faculty or staff web coordinator. This coordinator should apply for a WebWorks Account using the WebWorks Account Request Form.

If you have selected a student to assist your department with this project, please fill out the "Request for Student Access" section of this form along with the department coordinator's information.

Please allow two working days to receive access following submission of your request.

Why Do We Have Department Page Guidelines?

greenville.edu pages reflect the mission and quality of a Greenville College education. To ensure visitors to our website have a positive experience, our pages must be designed for consistency, accuracy and usability. These guidelines provide a design framework within which additional resources can be developed with a high degree of consistency, accuracy and usability, while at the same time allowing for individual department personality.

What Department Information Is Maintained by the Offices of Admissions & Web Communications?

In an effort to maintain accurate prospective student information, Admissions/Internet Communications maintain Majors, Faculty (listing), Facilities and Affiliated Organizations links, as appropriate, on each department page. Other information and/or sections may be added at the request of the department.

How Will Visitors Find Our "Additional Department Resources" Pages?

Once a department has developed additional resources, a "View Additional Department Resources" button link will be placed under the picture on the left-hand side of the main department page. A link to "Additional Department Resources" will also be added to the main department menu on the page. Individual links to key resources can be added under the primary "Additional Department Resources" link, at the discretion of the department.

Who Is Responsible for the Content Creation and Maintenance for "Additional Department Resources"?

Each individual department's web coordinator will oversee content creation and maintenance for "Additional Department Resources."

Department web coordinators are encouraged to conduct regular reviews of their additional resource pages. If these pages become out-of-date, they will be unlinked from the site until the appropriate updates are made.

Do "Additional Department Resources" Need to Resemble Standard greenville.edu Pages?

Additional resources are free from traditional greenville.edu template designs, but must follow the guidelines for color, navigation and multimedia files listed below:

Design Guidelines for "Additional Department Resources" Pages

  • Color

    Primary Page Colors:
    GC Green
    #003300
    GC Gold #B58COA

    Link Colors:
    Text #000000 Text
    Link #003300 Link
    Active Link #336633 Active Link
    Visited Link #B58COA Visited Link

    Web logos for Greenville College*
    Web logos for Panther Athletics*
*The logos must appear as is, with the exception of proportional resizing when needed. If Hogue Hall and Greenville College are placed in close proximity to each other, one of the pre-designed combinations must be used.

  • Navigation

Each "Additional Department Resources" page must include the following links:

    1. A link to the main faculty or department page from which each page originates. (i.e. "Art Department", "Brad Shaw")
    2. A link to "Greenville College Admissions" (http://www.greenville.edu/admissions)
    3. "admissions@greenville.edu" mailto link
    4. A link to "Greenville College Home" (http://www.greenville.edu/)
    5. A like to the Department or Organization page webmaster email

  • Multimedia Files

Flash - The use of Flash is discouraged for primary content. Due to usability (the need for the Flash plugin), accuracy (once Flash files are created they are rarely updated), and consistency (Flash coding and look greatly differs from the traditional greenville.edu pages).

The most appropriate use for Flash multimedia presentations is optional, promotional "online commercials" for GC programs or events.

If a department elects to use Flash files, the following links must be made available if a visitor attempts to access the files:
    1. A link to the main department page
    2. A link to the free Flash plugin on the Macromedia site (http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/)

MP3 - You may save and link to legal copies of MP3 files. Any file which goes against federal copyright laws will be removed.

Streaming Media - We currently do not service requests to place streaming media files on the greenville.edu server. You may link to existing streaming media files from your pages.
