What is ZIES? _____________________________________________________________

Academic Support

The Zahniser Institute for Environmental Studies is a non-academic department which supports the Greenville College Division of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Computer Science by providing students with opportunities for hands-on experience.

Through its Biology Department, Greenville College offers a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology. Environmental Biology majors can choose one of two tracks: Academic/Graduate Studies or Professional/Naturalist. Students majoring in Environmental Biology can gain valuable field experience through work on ZIES projects.

Students can also participate in programs through the AuSable Institute.

Spring Break 2001
The Zahniser Institute for Environmental Studies is taking up to 35 Greenville College students to New Madrid, Missouri on the evening of Sunday, March 25th. They will be working at the Seven Island Conservation Area and the Donaldson Point Conservation Area. Work will consist of digging up clumps of cane plants from areas where they still grow, and transplanting them into areas where the Missouri Department of Conservation would like to have them grow.
