Job Description

Transformation Academy (TA) is an association of four Christ-influenced private schools for Chinese and expatriate students in Shanghai and Shenyang. TA exists to transform lives and train students to be servant leaders through high-quality education in a loving environment. TA was founded in 2013 and now has over 500 students in K-3 to 12th grade between campuses. The faculties are comprised of both Chinese and foreign teachers, and all foreign staff along with most Chinese staff members are Christians. The schools use an American-based curriculum for core subjects and classes are taught in English (except Chinese language, Chinese math and some electives). The mixed east-west approach to teaching provides a great atmosphere not only for students, but employees as well. TA strives to provide employees with a fun loving work atmosphere, daily support and encouragement and a bilingual/multi-cultural work environment. Available Positions: Little Pond Preschool: K5-3 Teachers, K4-3 Teachers, and K3-2 Teachers. Transformation Academy Shanghai): 2nd Grade-2 Teachers, 3rd Grade-2 Teachers, 4th Grade-1 Teacher, 5th Grade-1 Teacher, PE-1 Teacher, Middle School Social Studies-1 Teacher, and Music-1 Teacher. Transformation Academy (Shenyang): 4th grade-1 Teacher and 8th Grade-1 Teacher. Shenyang Transformation International School (Shenyang): Music-1 Teacher, 4th Grade-1 Teacher, and 8th Grade-1 Teacher. Benefits: ($19,000-$34,000 a year). Modern classrooms. Furnished apartment paid for by school. Asia wide health insurance paid for by school. All Visa related expenses paid for by school. Annual round trip airfare to teacher's home paid for by school. Tuition for staff kids paid for by school. Pickup by school bus if housing beyond walking distance. Hot lunches paid for by school. Professional development opportunities. *Teachers will basically only have expenses related to setting up/decorating apartment, utilities, meals, when not at school and recreation. Job Description and Expectations: Be highly knowledgeable of content area and practice highly effective pedagogy. Be creative in teaching methods and comfortable with educational technology. Have passion for teaching students. Be patient and loving toward children. Collaborate with colleagues and serve others joyfully. Show willingness to grow and learn in areas of weakness. Maintain an organized classroom/office, model professionalism and work efficiently. Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents. Practice effective cross cultural skills, as shown particularly by adapting to a cross cultural (Chinese) school environment while teaching an American based curriculum in English. Actively pursue a faithful Christian witness in work and life. Required Qualifications: Committed Christian. Bachelors degree. Experience traveling outside of the U.S. Some teaching experience (either full time, student teaching or substitute). Preferred Qualifications: Education or English degree. Missions/Ministry experience. Two years teaching experience OR TEFL, TESOL, ESL training (or willingness to get certification).
