If the book you need isn't available in the Greenville College Library (it's either checked out, lost, or we don't own it), the next step is to check the I-Share Catalog , a shared catalog for 70+ academic libraries throughout Illinois.
- In order to request a book from another I-Share Library, first login to your account in the I-Share Catalog. (If you haven't set up an account in the I-Share Catalog, you will need to do that before you can place a request.)
- Once you have logged in, locate an item that you want to request.
- When the full record of the item you want is first displayed, you will see the Location tab in green. Libraries that own the item are listed in random order below this. You may try to request an item from any library that shows an "Available" status and a "Request this item" link.
- After you select "Request this item," then click "Choose pickup location." If you want to pick the item up at the Greenville College Library, simply click "Request." To pick up the item at another I-Share library, choose that library. Once your request goes through successfully, you will see a screen that says your request was submitted.
Once you check out an item from another I-Share Library, it is your responsibility to renew it before it becomes overdue. You can renew I-Share materials in your account in the I-Share Catalog or the Greenville College Library Catalog.
Note: You should renew items before they are due. Once they are overdue, you may have difficulty renewing them, and you will most likely receive a fine from the lending library. Each I-Share library determines how long their loan period is, how many times its materials can be renewed, and how much they charge for overdue or lost items.
