Undergraduate
Teacher Education Partnership Adds Special Education and Music Education to
Course Offerings
GREENVILLE, ILL. -
Greenville College honored the first nine Undergraduate Teacher Education
Partnership (UTEP) students at a dinner held at Kaskaskia College. The students
have completed their course work and student teaching and will participate in a
formal graduation ceremony at Greenville College in May of 2007. Students
honored include Emily Pryor of Shattuc, Kristin Trumbo of Centralia, Rene
Dillion of Dix, Ashley Crompton and Dianne Howe of Salem, Alicia Hahn of
Sandoval, Lynne Tonnies of Germantown and Shelly Glotfelty of Okawville.
The UTEP program, which began in
January 2005, allows students enrolled in Kaskaskia and Lewis and Clark
community colleges to complete their bachelor's degrees on their community
college campuses. "The transition is seamless," said Dr. Blue, Dean of Education
at Greenville College. "After they enter the program we consider
them our own students and begin to assist in advising them. When they begin our
curriculum they don't transfer in, they simply continue."
Greenville College
added Special Education to course offerings at both KC and Lewis and Clark in
the fall of 2006.Greenville College seeks to again increase UTEP offerings by
adding Music Education. This program will be available at the Lewis and Clark
site beginning in the fall of 2007.
