General Education classes required for the major:
SOC 112 - Anthropology
ENG 243 - World Literature

Major requirements:
Participation in a CCCU off-campus, non-USA semester program - 15-16 credits*
*Some of the courses listed below may be fulfilled
by participating in the different off-campus programs.

2 courses in a foreign language after basic 101 and 102 courses - 6 credits

  • SPA 220 - Spoken Spanish
  • SPA 310 - Latin American History (cross listed with history)

Or, if fluent in Spanish, one of these:

  • SPA 320 - España y su civilización
  • SPA 321 - Latinoamérica y su civilización
  • FRN 399 - Independent study in French culture

Three of these 6 credits can be waived if the student studies in the Costa Rica CCCU program, the program in China, Russia, or another accredited program in a non-English speaking country as long as they are taking a language course within the off-campus program requirement.

2 sociology courses from these three - 6 credits

  • SOC 302 - Diversity Issues
  • SOC 309 - Social Stratification
  • SOC 365 - Social Organization

1 cultural geography course - 3 credits

  • GEO 102 - Cultural Geography

2 history courses from these three - 6 credits

  • HST 202 - Eastern Civilization
  • HST 245 - Jews, Christians, Muslims
  • HST 310 - Latin American History [mentioned above]

1 course in world religions - 3 credits

  • REL 354 - World Religions

1 political science course - 3 credits

  • POL 313 - Foreign Relations of the US from 1900

1 cross-cultural communication course - 3 credits
