Purpose: To honor individuals who
model the ideals of Greenville College. The annual awards are presented
to alumni who demonstrate Christian discipleship and offer significant
contributions to their field of service.
General Guidelines: Anyone, including
staff and board members may nominate a qualified candidate for any
alumni award. Nominations should be solicited through the Greenville
College Record and Greenville College web site. A screening process
may be implemented as follows: Alumni Board Executive Committee
reviews nominees then submits nominees to Alumni Office for biographical
research. Staff will compile biographical information of nominees
by researching files and/or through confidential interviews with
family or friends of the nominee. The Executive Committee and/or
the Alumni Board Awards Committee may determine those nominees who
may be considered by the full board.
Selection and Presentation: Award
recipients should be selected at Alumni Board meetings. Selection
should be conducted with formal nomination and second of individual
candidates, followed by Board vote. When necessary, election may
be made by mail or electronic ballot following receipt by Board
members of nominees' biographical information.
Generally, Distinguished, Loyalty and Faculty awards will be presented
by the Alumni Board president at the alumni banquet during Summer
Reunion. The Outstanding Young Alumnus, Character and Service, and
Robert A. Briner Salt and Light awards will be presented during
Homecoming Weekend. When appropriate, the awards may be presented
at Greenville College alumni meetings, convocation, chapel or other
special event.
