Spending over ten years at Greenville College has solidified my understanding of the value of community … for both corporate and individual growth. I’ve seen first hand how the quality interaction between our faculty, staff and students creates the unique, Christ-centered learning environment described in Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

Over the last few years Greenville College has refinedenrollment systems in Admissions and Financial Aid; polished our Academic programs with new offerings such as Music Business and the Undergraduate Teacher Education Partnership (UTEP) with regional community colleges; and sharpened our campus facilities, namely the renovation of the Whitlock Music Center and the construction of a new dorm … all with shining results. As we look toward future growth, we know we will be insufficient to the task without a community that continues to pursue excellence in their individual areas of responsibility. Each face, each personality, each individual brings unique strengths and perspective to our mission.

This annual report will give you just a glimpse of the iron within our community: Dr. Teresa Holden, assistant professor of History/Political Science and French, leads her students in community projects and has been nominated Volunteer of the Year in East St. Louis; Justin Chesnut, a senior Management major, won a national award from Phi Beta Lambda, the national honor society for business; Dr. Eugene Dunkley has pioneered the Forensics emphasis of the Biology major; and Elizabeth Hehman leads our World Missions and Outreach efforts, a new initiative on campus enhancing a strategic link between our campus and needs around the world.

In this report we have also listed your names – over 3,500 of you who have chosen to strengthen the mission of the college financially. We can never thank you enough for investing your support in this community. You provide resources to 1,450 students, of whom 1,000 receive instruction on campus and 450 meet in more than 12 locations throughout southern Illinois. Faculty and staff comprise 250 additional individuals your faithful support encourages. We pray the Greenville College mission of transformational education and service reaches beyond these walls and, in effect, returns to sharpen your life.

In Christ,
David A. Hoag
