Former JAG Officer Lieutenant Colonel Bill Reynolds ’88 to Speak
GREENVILLE, ILL. – Greenville College officially kicks off its 116th academic year Wednesday, August 29, with Convocation Chapel at 9:30 a.m. in H.J. Long Gymnasium featuring guest speaker Bill Reynolds. A reception will be held in the Young Lounge area of the Armington Center immediately following Convocation. Both the service and reception are free and open to the public.
Reynolds currently serves as the county administrator for Wisconsin’s Chippewa County and is tasked with providing leadership to thirty-three municipal departments, and supervising the daily operations of over 600 employees.
He was raised in Hillsboro, IL and attended Greenville College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science in 1988. He was also a founding member of the college’s football team. He then attended DePaul University College of Law where he served as the vice president of the Student Bar and graduated in 1991 with a Juris Doctor.
Following DePaul Reynolds served as a prosecutor in the United States Marine Corps and tried over 200 criminal cases in federal court prior to becoming senior legal advisor to the 1st Marine Division. He was recognized as the Marine Corps’ nominee for the 1998 American Bar Association Military Attorney of the Year, and the 1998 Federal Bar Association Attorney of the Year.
In 1999, Reynolds left active duty and attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard and graduated with a Masters in Public Administration in 2000.
He then became press secretary to senior U.S. Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, becoming chief of staff and director of Communications six years later.
In 2004, Bill took a leave of absence from Senator Specter’s office to join his Marine Corps reserve unit on deployment to Iraq where he was a senior officer leading the team responsible for Civil/Military operations in the volatile Al Anbar province. Among his accomplishments in Iraq were participating in both the planning and execution of the battle for Fallujah, coordinating the post-battle assessment of the city’s infrastructure, and being named the senior civil affairs and reconstruction advisor to the province’s Iraqi governor.
Bill currently lives in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin with his wife Cathy and their two sons Cedric Christian and Kynan Patrick.
Greenville College is a four-year accredited Christian liberal arts school with more than 1450 traditional undergraduate, graduate, and adult degree completion students. Founded in 1892 and affiliated with the Free Methodist Church, the college is located in Greenville, Illinois, 45 miles east of St. Louis.
