GreenvilleCollege will host the third annual GC Fest on October 27, 2007 in the
Whitlock Music Center on the Greenville College campus. Student/alumni
bands Photoside Café and The Silent Film will be performing along with
GC alum Stephanie Smith. The event is set to kick off at 8 p.m. and
general admission is $5. GC Fest, held during Homecoming and Parents'
Weekend, welcomes students, alumni, parents, and area youth.
GC Fest is a new, yet accomplished tradition for Greenville College.
Homecoming guests can catch a glimpse of the budding talent produced
at GC, while enjoying many other Homecoming and Parents' Weekend
activities. Headlining this year's event, Gotee recording artist and
GC Class of 2006 Stephanie Smith spoke of the immense talent on the GC
campus. "Greenville is full of independent artists and chances are a
lot of them won't find record deals ... but if they are passionate
about music they're going to continue doing it." She added, "The
community was probably the biggest thing [about GC] … the supportive
community, the years of those people getting to know me and knowing my
talent and my heart … the Lord brought the right college and people and
community.”
GC Fest not only provides an outlet for these artists to display their
talent to their peers, parents and alums, but also provides an
opportunity to minister to area youth groups. Serving as an outreach to
the surrounding community, GC Fest offers youth an evening of
invigorating and refreshing music on the Greenville College campus.
