Concerts, Dedications and Sporting Events Planned 

GREENVILLE, ILL. - A Friday morning Homecoming chapel featuring Greenville College alumnus Juanita Irizarry, various sporting events, and concerts highlighting GC talent, Stephanie Smith, Photoside Café, and The Silent Film and much more highlight the annual Homecoming and Parents' Weekend Friday through Sunday, October 26-28, at Greenville College.

Activities for the public begin Friday, October 26, with Homecoming chapel at the Whitlock Music Center. Miss Juanita Irizarry will be awarded the college's Outstanding Young Alumnus Award and will give the chapel address.  Irizarry received her Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University in 2007 and widely displayed her leadership skills while at Greenville College, a part of the class of 1989.

At 7:30p.m., the Music Department will put on a concert in the Whitlock Music Center.
A full schedule of activities is planned for Saturday. The day begins at 8:00 a.m. with the Panther 5k. Anyone can participate for a $10 registration fee, which covers prizes and a commemorative t-shirt, with all monies raised being donated to the Habitat for Humanity Project. Participants should gather in the student union between 7:00-7:30 a.m. to register.

Other sporting events on Saturday will be held throughout the day. At 9 a.m. the men's alumni soccer game and the women's alumni volleyball kick off. At 11 a.m. athletic events continue with the women's alumni soccer game and women's alumni basketball game.  Also on Saturday in Hillsboro, IL at 10 a.m. the men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the SLIAC Championships.

Also beginning at 9 a.m. is the CCM reunion.  This event will begin with a breakfast at 9 a.m. in the Whitlock Music Center.  Following the breakfast, Mr. Warren Pettit, founder of GC’s Contemporary Christian Music program, will be conducting two seminars and lunch will be served at 12:00 p.m.

Homecoming activities continue with women's and men's soccer matches, which will be played at the Francis Field complex as they face Eureka. The women's game kicks off at 1 p.m., and the men's game follows at 3 p.m.

The G.C. Panther football team will host Concordia at 1 p.m. on the football field.

To wrap up Saturday's sporting events, the men's basketball team will host an alumni game in H.J. Long Gymnasium. The match up of the alumni and the men's basketball team occurs at 7:00 p.m.

Completing the Saturday events will be a concert with Stephanie Smith, Photoside Café, and The Silent Film, all featuring GC alumni and students, held in the Blackroom at 8:00 p.m.
Special events for students actually begin Tuesday, October 17, and continue throughout the week. The highlight of the students' week occurs on Tuesday, with the annual Homecoming banquet. Each year the Homecoming banquet sees the crowning of the king and queen. This year's banquet will also feature a Homecoming dance directly following.
