GC community partnered with three FM churches to build a Habitat for Humanity home in Greenville. The GC community celebrated the home blessing with new owner and GC custodian, Victoria Stone, this fall.
- In collaboration with Urban Impact Ministries, five teams of GC
students have continued Katrina relief efforts. Their efforts focused
on gutting homes (still untouched since the storm two years ago) and
preparing them to be rebuilt, as well as representing the church
through relational ministry within the neighborhood.
- Supported by a
$10,000 donation from University Loft Co., the furniture manufacturer
for GC residence halls, Dr. Eugene Dunkley led a group of students to
Rwanda for Interterm study and service.
- GC students are investing in
the "Education in Partnership" program at the Simple Room in
Greenville, IL. This program (funded by a grant from Lifeline Homes)
inspires, encourages and equips at risk students to become first
generation college students through weekly tutoring sessions and
monthly campus exploratory events.
- In Guatemala this January, students
will be serving the communities of Magdelana and El Gorione at
discipline-specific ministry sites (healthcare, agribusiness, applied
technology, Spanish education, etc.)
