The Ellen J. Mannoia Hall Endowment Fund was established following the death of Greenville College's beloved first lady, Ellen Mannoia, on June 13, 2007. This fund will provide for future facility needs such as furnishings, maintenance, and basic upkeep of the dorm on College Avenue, which was named Ellen J. Mannoia Hall by the board of trustees in May 2007. Since her passing, about 130 donors have contributed more than $40,000 in memorial gifts to the fund, and new gifts continue to come in.
Throughout the construction of Mannoia Hall, Ellen played an
integral part in its design, decorating and furnishing. She contributed
her own money to make it a featured facility on the Greenville College
campus. This dedication in her memory honors the significant impact
Ellen had on this college in the eight years she served as first lady.
Craig Tidball, chairman of the board of trustees, described Mannoia as
the "reflection of the spirit of [Greenville College]. A woman of God,
a woman of character, a woman of service, a loving and caring wife and
mother, a woman of beauty and of hospitality." Funds generated come in
as memorial gifts, and hold a special meaning for those who contribute.
