FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 1/28/08

GREENVILLE, IL – The Greenville College Womens’ Volleyball team is hosting a traditional Nicaraguan style dinner on Saturday February 9th at 6pm. The dinner will be held in the Krober room on the Greenville College Campus. Tickets will be $20 each and all proceeds will go to help fund the team’s trip to Nicaragua this summer.

The catered meal will include numerous traditional Nicaraguan foods. Along with dinner, guests will be given an enlightening presentation about the struggles of Nicaragua and what the GC Volleyball team will do to help.  For parents, there will be free babysitting provided for the dinner.

This mission trip/ team builder, as so titled by head coach Tom Ackerman, will have the girls taking a five city tour with the Nicaragua women’s national team.  In each city there will be volleyball clinics given, orphanages visited and other service acts. One act in particular will be providing fresh, healthy food for people who live by and eat from dumpsters. When asked why partake in such a trip Coach Ackerman said, “This will be an eye-opening experience for these girls. We are blessed to be able to play a sport we all love and I am excited to give others an opportunity to learn this wonderful game.”
