FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 03/25/2008

Mark Roach will be at Greenville College Greenville College Welcomes Myrrh Recording Artist Mark Roach Friday, March 28

Greenville, IL - Greenville College will host worship leader, songwriter and Myrrh recording artist Mark Roach to campus on Friday, March 28. Three opportunities will be offered – chapel, a lunch Q&A and a songwriting seminar - to hear Roach share various aspects of his professional and spiritual journey as a Christian in the music industry. All events are free and open to the community. He will also perform with SONICFLOOd on Sunday, March 30, at First Christian Church in Florissant, MO. Concert tickets cost $10.

Mark Roach will start the day at GC in chapel at 9:30 a.m. in the Whitlock Music Center. He will lead worship and serve as guest speaker, recounting his steps from St. Louis to college to Nashville back to St. Louis and – metaphorically – back to Nashville through his record deal with Word Entertainment’s Myrrh Records.

Following chapel, college and community are invited to an "Eat-and-Greet" time of Q&A with Roach from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Krober Room at Armington Center. Participants are invited – but not required – to purchase lunch in the dining commons and then continue to the Krober Room. Lunch costs $5.00 for community members.

Roach will conclude the day with a songwriting seminar, entitled, “Writing Songs for Corporate Worship,” at 1:30 p.m. in the Krober Room.

Mark Roach, Every Reason Why
“At thirteen, Mark picked up his first guitar and finally put chords to the first melody he'd ever written three years earlier. By the time he graduated high school, he had officially adopted the title singer/songwriter. Four years later, Mark released his first full-length recording entitled The Road to Home--the culmination of his tenure at Millikin University in Decatur, IL,” states Mark Roach.com.

“After graduating college, Mark headed to Nashville. Still writing primarily secular pop/rock music, the Christian industry in Nashville didn't seem to be a fit, so he headed back to his hometown of St. Louis, MO in '99. Ironically, only months later, Mark accepted what would prove to be a life-changing position at Morning Star Church, a new church start in O'Fallon, where he began writing worship songs as the Music Director and Worship Leader. Mark has written several worship songs now sung in churches across the country, and is currently in his seventh year as Worship Leader at MSC.”

Mark Roach’s debut album, Every Reason Why, has produced two popular charting singles, “A Thousand Hallelujahs” and "You Are.” The third single released from this album, “Surrounded,” was the most added song of the week (3.03.08) according to Radio and Records.
Mark Roach will appear with SONICFLOOd on Sunday, March 30, as a part of WIBI's "Opening Act" concert at First Christian Church in Florissant, MO. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on www.wibi.org. Greenville College is honored to sponsor WIBI's "Opening Act" contest. Roach has served as guest judge for the contest.
