Position Description:  Greenville College is seeking a full-time faculty member (rank open) to help launch a new Inverse Degree program aimed at helping community college graduates complete a bachelor’s degree.  The start date will be May 2008 or as soon thereafter as possible.  Continuation of this position after two years depends on the economic viability of the new program.

Qualifications:  We are seeking a dynamic faculty member committed to liberal arts education who has an entrepreneurial spirit.  This individual should have a doctorate (or master’s degree and unique professional experience) in a traditional liberal arts discipline, especially philosophy, religion, history, or English.  A vibrant personal Christian faith commitment is required.  Candidates must be dedicated to recruiting, advising and teaching undergraduate majors in a Christian academic community.  Past experience in undergraduate admissions and experience at a community college will be helpful.

Responsibilities:  Primary responsibilities include teaching at Kaskaskia College, our community college partner in the non-traditional bachelor’s program.  The candidate may also teach one or more courses in Greenville College’s traditional program.  Course assignments will depend on the successful candidate’s education and experience but could include Liberal Arts and Christian Thought, Major Issues in Philosophy, Sociology of Wealth and Poverty, and a senior capstone seminar.  The candidate selected for this position will advise off-campus students enrolled in the inverse degree program, serve on college committees and assist in recruitment of students. Additionally, the candidate will assist in recruiting, training and administrating adjunct instructors in the program. This is a 12-month position.

Compensation:  Salary is based on academic background and experience.  The College also provides a generous benefits package that includes health, retirement, life insurance, and disability plans, as well as tuition waiver for dependents at Greenville and a tuition exchange program with 80+ other Christian colleges.

School of Arts and Sciences:  One of three schools at Greenville College, the school of Arts and Sciences is the home to twelve academic departments and forming the foundation of the college’s general education program.

Greenville College:  The College is located 50 miles east of St. Louis in an attractive residential community of approximately 7,000 people.  Greenville was founded in 1892 and has a rich heritage of affiliation with the Free Methodist Church, yet draws students from 40+ denominations.  Our partnering institution, Kaskaskia College, has a main campus located in Centralia, IL (45 minutes away) and has more than 5000 students.  It has been ranked first or second in growth among Illinois community colleges over the last several years.

Applications:  Application materials should include a (1) letter of application, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) statement of philosophy of Christian higher education, (4) statement of personal faith journey and commitment, (5) letters from three references, and (6) official transcripts.  Applications will be reviewed starting April 1, 2008.  Address applications to
