Job Title: Temporary Admissions Counselor
Classification: Temporary, Full-time, August 18th through December 15th (approximately)
Department: Admissions
Supervisor: Admissions
Basic Functions:
To recruit and enroll incoming freshman students from a designated geographic region who are seeking an excellent Christian liberal arts education and assist in the day-to-day administration of the office. This is a temporary position while the Admissions Counselor who regularly manages this territory is on family leave.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recognize that any activity related to the role and scope of the Admissions Office is a personal responsibility; mature conduct and professional work are expected at all times
2. Execute the strategies and tactics contained in the Enrollment Management Marketing Plan focused on recruiting new freshman to Greenville College.
3. Coordinate and participate in activities designed to introduce prospective students, parents, and other constituents to Greenville College, including individual campus visits, Scholarship Award Days, Preview Days, the Agape Festival, and other special events; often involving weekends
4. Understand that you are a Greenville College representative and are constantly presenting a public image of the college
5. Host and interview prospective students on and off campus
6. Identify prospect pool, follow-up in person or by phone, mail, or e-mail, and encourage prospective students through the application, acceptance, financial aid, deposit, scheduling, and registration processes
7. Maintain consistent phone contact with prospective students and families; this often means attempting 100 phone contacts each week and spending 15 to 20 hours on the phone each week. Some evening calling each week is expected.
8. Able to embrace the office technology and be the “personal touch” in our client management system
9. Some travel with some heavy lifting
10. Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Admissions
Qualifications/Skills Required:
1. Commitment to Christ and the Christian ideals of Greenville College
2. An understanding and appreciation of Christian higher education
3. Bachelor’s degree required
4. Outstanding people skills
5. Effective communication skills, both spoken and written; must be able to speak clearly and be understood over the telephone
6. Ability and desire to work effectively in a challenging, goal-oriented sales environment
7. Creative and enthusiastic
8. Computer skills; especially Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
9. Self-motivated
10. Ability to manage time well on a varying work schedule
11. Valid driver’s license in good standing
Start Date: August 18th through December 15th, subject to change
