Greenville Choral Union and Orchestra to Begin Rehearsing Mozart Requiem for April 24 Concert

GREENVILLE, IL – The Greenville Choral Union will begin vocal rehearsals for its Spring Concert on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the new Greenville College Music Center Recital (formerly the Greenville Free Methodist Church sanctuary) located at the corner of College Avenue and Elm Street . Rehearsals for the Greenville Community Orchestra are currently taking place on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Greenville College Band Room.

Central European Music Concert Planned

The 100-voice Choral Union and 40-piece orchestra will join forces to present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem and Franz Josef Haydn's “Gloria” from the Heiligmesse . Music by Hungarian composers Béla Bártok, Zoltán Kodály and Halmos László will be sung by the Greenville College Choir and Chamber Singers. The Greenville Community Orchestra will also perform the first movement of Mozart's “Symphony No. 40 in G minor.” Featured professional vocal soloists will include Professor Debra Marsch , Dr. Kay Paulsen and Professor Bruce Paulsen from Greenville College and former Greenville resident Dr. Kendell Stephens. The concert will take place on Sunday, April 24, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in the new Greenville College Music Center .

Membership in the Choral Union and Orchestra is open to all vocalists and instrumentalists who are high school age or older. For more information, contact Dr. Jeff Wilson (see information above), Associate Professor of Music at Greenville College and Music Director of the Greenville Choral Union.
