Greenville, IL — Greenville College welcomes new full-time faculty.


Lesley Allen, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of English
Dr. Allen joined the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture this fall as an assistant professor of English. Allen received her Bachelor’s in Secondary English Education from Emporia State University (Emporia, KS) in 1997. After teaching high school for two years, she pursued graduate work and completed her M.A. in 2001, also at Emporia. This past summer, she completed her Ph.D. in English and Medieval Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and defended her dissertation, Inventing the Sacred Nation: St. Edmund of East Anglia & English Identity in Medieval Text & Image. Although her research centers on medieval texts and culture, her teaching record includes diverse courses, including rhetoric and composition, women writers, and later British literature.

Jamie Fuller, M.S.
Assistant Librarian in Periodicals
Jamie Fuller comes to Greenville College from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she earned her M.S. in Library and Information Science.
Fuller was involved in theater throughout high school and college and looks forward to being involved in helping with the theater program at GC. While at UIUC she was involved in the Christian Campus Fellowship and served as an assistant media technician as well as event planning. Fuller received her B.A. in English from Trinity Christian College with minors in mathematics and theater.

Shani Golovay, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Biology
Dr. Golovay joins the Greenville faculty after teaching at the University of Florida, Wheaton College and California Baptist University. Golovay has also worked as a volunteer and ESL aid at Schloss Mittersill Study Center in Mittersill, Austria. She is currently working on a Masters in Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL and earned her Ph.D. and M.S. from Mississippi State University and B.S from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Golovay is a 1992 graduate of Greenville High School.

Nancy Johnson, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Education
Dr. Johnson comes to Greenville after teaching reading courses as an adjunct professor for the University of Iowa, University of Missouri - Columbia, Webster University, Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, and Iowa Wesleyan College. Johnson taught in the public school systems in Iowa and Missouri and has taught most of the elementary grades, served as Reading Director and/or reading specialist, curriculum director, and elementary principal. She taught in rural schools, wealthy suburban schools, and spent the past 8 years in a high poverty, high diversity urban school. Johnson earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Iowa and her B.A. from Luther College.

Greenville College is a four-year accredited Christian liberal arts school with more than 1500 traditional undergraduate, graduate and adult degree completion students. Founded in 1892 and affiliated with the Free Methodist Church, the college is located in Greenville, Illinois, 45 miles east of St. Louis.
