DESCRIPTION: Greenville College seeks an experienced, energetic, and visionary leader to serve as dean of the School of Education. This person will oversee our on-campus teacher education programs, partnership programs on the campuses of other institutions in our region, and masters programs in teaching and education. Anticipated start date: July 1, 2009.
QUALIFICATIONS: We seek an individual who has:
- Academic leadership experience and administrative skills
- Experience as a college/university faculty member
- Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution
- A vibrant personal Christian faith commitment
- A commitment to integrate Christian faith with an understanding of the discipline
- State teaching certification (inactive certification acceptable)
- The desire and ability to network with state officials and others around the state to ensure our compliance with state teacher education accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and engagement with professional organizations
- Successful experience with teacher education accreditation efforts at another college or university
- A commitment to liberal arts as well as professional education.
COMPENSATION: Salary is based on academic preparation and years of relevant experience. The College provides a generous benefits package that includes healthcare coverage, retirement savings, life insurance, and disability insurance. Dependents receive a full undergraduate tuition waiver at Greenville College and GC is part of a tuition exchange program that includes dozens of other Christian colleges.
THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION: The School of Education has grown dramatically in recent years and now has approximately 450 students in early childhood, elementary, special, and secondary education programs. Since 2001 we have started two masters degrees (MAE And MAT) and three partnerships with regional schools where students complete the first two years of education at the partner institution and GC provides the last two years of a BS education on their campuses. We were found to have “no weaknesses” in our last accreditation visit by the state of Illinois and have subsequently been recognized as a model school by the Illinois State Board of Education.
GREENVILLE COLLEGE: Greenville College was founded in 1892 and has a rich heritage as a Christian college affiliated with the Free Methodist Church. It has maintained a strong focus on liberal arts education while providing strong professional and pre-professional majors. This fall our headcount is approximately 1600 total students. We are located 50 miles east of St. Louis in an attractive residential community of approximately 7,000 people.
