Greenville College Receives $20,000 from University Loft Company

Donation to Be Used for Experiential Learning

GREENVILLE , ILL. – Greenville College officials drove to University Loft Company (ULC) headquarters in Indianapolis , Indiana to receive a $20,000 check from company founder James Jannteids, the largest donation the company has made to the college.  The money will be used for the college's experiential learning program that funds such student activities as Walkabout, the resident chaplain training, and Urban Plunge, a weekend in which students travel to St. Louis to serve urban ministries.

Over the summer the college was given an estate gift that provided for half a million dollars worth of furniture which was purchased from ULC.  “I realized in researching furniture,” said Dr. Norm Hall, associate vice president and dean of student development, “University Loft has what students like and what administration will buy.”

Each set of furniture purchased includes a bed, dresser, chair, desk and mattress. “The tool-less system has multiple ways of being assembled. It has versatility tied into it.  It is really the best product for the lowest price,” said Dr. Hall.

The company, which inscribes John 3:16 on all their furniture, was founded in 1986 while Jannteids attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale .  Now one of the largest educational furniture providers, ULC also serves the government, hospitality industry, churches, and retail companies.

Greenville College is a four-year accredited Christian liberal arts school with more than 1300 traditional undergraduate, graduate, and adult degree completion students.  Founded in 1892 and affiliated with the Free Methodist Church , the college is located in Greenville , Illinois , 45 miles east of St. Louis .
