Arms and the Man Opens at the Factory Theatre
 |
|
James Iler, Adam Mackey, and Chenoa Lennix rehearse for the upcoming production of Arms and the Man which opens November 9 at the Factory Theatre.
|
November 9-13 at 7:30pm Greenville College Factory Theatre will produce George Bernard Shaw's satirical comedy, Arms and the Man. The play tells the story of an anti-romantic love triangle involving a Bulgarian woman, her fiancé and an escaped enemy soldier.
Fast-moving, witty, and somewhat exotic, Arms and the Man pokes
fun at the sentimental ideas of romance and war and replaces them with
surprising truths. Shaw skillfully creates a play of ideas that is
genuinely romantic and very funny.

Production
crew members Terrica Pinney, Chenoa Lennix, Matthew Williams, and Andy
Smoker mug for the camera as they create a “stone wall” on the stage of
the Factory Theatre.
|
First produced more than a century ago, Arms and the Man's
attack on the romantic notion of love and war is still relevant today.
As we laugh at the discoveries that the characters make, their
realizations may help us to laugh at ourselves as well.
The
cast of seven characters includes Doug Pritchett and Chenoa Lennix as
Major and Mrs. Petkoff, James Iler as Captain Bluntschli, and Jes Adam
as Major Saranoff. Amanda Ulrey portrays Raina Petkoff, and Laura Irish
and Adam Mackey play Louka and Nicola.
Performances
are Tuesday through Saturday, November 9-13 at 7:30 pm . Tickets are
available at Watson's Drugstore and Jo's Java in Greenville.
