Greenville College Announces Founders as New Bookstore Provider
Bookstore Will Close October 30 and Reopen Mid-November
GREENVILLE
, ILL. – Greenville College announces a partnership with Founders as
the college's new bookstore provider. Family Christian Store will close
at the end of October, the facility will undergo remodeling at the
beginning of November, and then will reopen in mid-November as a
Founders store.
A branch of College Bookstores
of America (CBA), Founders will ensure better service to the campus
community while still providing services for the larger community of
Greenville . The new store will continue to carry books and music, in
addition to college textbooks and an increased inventory of college
product, apparel, and gifts. The Founders store will also have greater
flexibility to buy back all texts from students, not just those adopted
for future classes. In addition, the store will provide online
purchasing options, which will include the ability for faculty to make
textbook selections online. The bookstore will also service the adult
studies programs.
Founders, which operates over
100 Christian college and university retail stores, plans to meet with
the Ministerial Alliance of Greenville to determine the needs of local
churches so that the bookstore remains of service to the community. As
a part of the Founders' system, store managers order the product needed
by the community they serve. “We hire individuals involved in the local
community who take a personal interest in the success of their
bookstore and institution,” said CBA.
Founders
is committed to being an “integral part of the Christian education
experience.” The bookstore plans to move textbooks to the store room
floor in order to make them more accessible to students and faculty. An
increased selection of college logo items will also be available for
purchase.
Since 2000, Family Christian Stores
has served Greenville College as the college's bookstore provider.
Family Christian Stores services only three college bookstores. For the
past six months the college has worked diligently with Family Christian
Stores to resolve several customer service issues which have come from
faculty, staff and students. As a result of those discussions,
Greenville College and Family Christian Stores have mutually agreed to
discontinue their relationship.
“It is our goal
to find the best ways to serve our traditional campus community and our
adult programs,” said David Hoag, vice president of Advancement at
Greenville College . He thanks Family Christian Stores for their work
at GC, “They have been an integral part of our community and we thank
them for their service.”
