Factory Theatre presents Arsenic and Old Lace Arsenic and Old LaceMarch 30-April 3 Greenville College Factory Theatre will produce Joseph Kesselring's Arsenic and Old Lace , a comedy of mirth and mayhem. One of the all-time hits of the American stage, this play of hilarity and homicide tells the story of the wacky Brewster family members whose love for charity has taken an alarmingly murderous turn.

One of the zaniest collections of characters ever assembled in one play make audiences both shudder and roar with laughter in Arsenic and Old Lace . Teddy Brewster spends most of his time under the impression that he is really Teddy Roosevelt and that the Panama Canal runs through the cellar of his home.

Another character, Jonathan, struggles to retain his rightful title as America 's most prolific criminal. Then there is Doctor Einstein, whose job it is to surgically change Jonathan's face every time he has completed one of his crimes.

There are the sweet, puttering Brewster sisters, the lovable Abby and Martha, whose lethal brew of arsenic, strychnine, cyanide and elderberry wine has never missed yet. When all these people get together on a September afternoon, in a quiet house on a quiet street in Brooklyn , the repercussions almost unhinge Mortimer, the one sane member of the Brewster family, and completely befuddle the Brooklyn police force.

The two lovable but lethal old ladies are played by Nicole Mulholland of Greenville and Rebecca Joiner. Greenville residents Dan Coulter and James Iler, and Adam Mackey from Hillsboro portray the Brewster brothers. David Sanders of Greenville tackles a characterization of the weird Dr. Einstein.

Julianne Gilmore assumes the role of Elaine, Mortimer's fiancée, and the stuffy Reverend Harper is a challenge for Eric Weidmann. Brooklyn 's finest policemen are played by Steven Angelos, and Melissa Harper. Dan Southerland and Josh Stillwell complete the cast as unsuspecting house guests. Melissa Harper serves as assistant director.

Since its New York production, Arsenic and Old Lace has become one of the top favorites all over the country, and has also enjoyed long runs in almost every major foreign city. It has proven to be a career vehicle for a variety of stage and screen stars, including Boris Karloff, Helen Hayes, and Cary Grant.

Arsenic and Old Lace runs Tuesday through Saturday, March 30 through April 3 at 7:30 p.m. The play promises to provide an evening of spooky fun for the entire family. Tickets are on sale at Family Christian Stores and Watson's Drugstore for $6.
