Jonathan and Amanda Noël to Perform Homecoming Concert on
Saturday, Oct. 18
The G.C. grad and his wife blend organic pop, folk,
rock, and a touch of jazz
GREENVILLE, Ill. – If you can imagine sharing a stage with
recording artists Jars of Clay and Point of Grace, you already have
a good idea where Greenville College graduate Jonathan Noël
and his wife Amanda have frequently found themselves over the last
nine years. On Saturday, Oct. 18, Greenville College will experience
the Noëls’ ministry firsthand as they perform a Homecoming
concert in LaDue Auditorium at 7 p.m.
The concert will include music from Jonathan’s newest CD,
“Silent Movie.” Co-produced by Mitch Dane and recorded
at Sputnik Studios in Franklin, Tenn., the album is set for release
in October.
Now residing in Franklin, Jonathan and Amanda have written and
presented their music through recordings and live performances since
the mid-1990’s. The couple has traveled throughout the country,
joining the aforementioned artists and several others, including
Margaret Becker, Fernando Ortega, Out of the Grey, and Andrew Peterson.
In addition to performing their music, Jonathan and Amanda regularly
take the opportunity to lead worship as part of their ministry.
“I have met few people more gifted than Jonathan and Amanda
in leading people into true worship,” said Doug Wilcoxson,
vice president for student affairs at LeTourneau University and
former dean of student development at Greenville College. “Their
hearts are to serve God and those with whom they interact.”
Jonathan, a native of Vermont, taught himself to play the piano
at age 6. By the age of 14, he began leading worship at his church.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in youth ministry and
music from Greenville College in 1994, Jonathan moved to Nashville
where he toured with Christian recording artists Out of the Grey,
Margaret Becker, and Fernando Ortego.
In 1998, Jonathan released “Hand,” his debut independent
CD. The compilation included 10 of his original songs and arrangements.
Major artists later re-recorded and released three of these songs.
Amanda, an Oklahoma native, developed a passion for singing during
her childhood and continued this love at Southeastern Oklahoma State
University as she became the featured vocalist for her jazz ensemble.
She graduated from SOSU in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in
communications and a minor in music.
During her college career, Amanda wrote her first music, and she
moved to Nashville after graduation to record and perform it. Her
joy in ministering to others through song appealed to record executives
who soon gave her their attention.
After meeting at a recording session in 1997, the Noëls began
accompanying each other for performances and married in 1999. Today
a portion of their ministry is devoted to World Vision, an international
organization which sponsors impoverished children in over 100 countries.
