SAT and ACT Policy Print E-mail
Beginning in the spring of 2005, both the SAT and ACT tests changed and added writing sections. Below is information regarding Greenville College 's policy regarding these new formats:

SAT:

The SAT's new writing section is required, meaning that the new SAT has three sections—math, critical reading (formerly verbal), and writing. For the next few years, Greenville College will not use the writing section when determining eligibility for admission or academic merit scholarships. We will monitor the writing scores of our students, then incorporate those scores into our processes after we have sufficient information about how to interpret these scores. We expect to begin using the SAT writing score for determining admission and scholarship eligibility for students entering Greenville College in the Fall of 2008. For more information about the SAT's writing section, visit the College Board's website at: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/prep_one/prep_one.html.

ACT:

The ACT's new writing section is optional, meaning that when students register for the test, they can elect to participate in the writing section or not. While Greenville College does not require that applicants have an ACT writing score on file, we do strongly encourage all students to participate in the writing portion of the ACT. We will monitor the writing scores of our students, then incorporate those scores into our process after we have sufficient information about how to interpret these scores. We expect to begin requiring and using the ACT writing score for determining admission and scholarship eligibility for students entering Greenville College in the Fall of 2008. For more information about the ACT's writing section, visit ACT's website at: http://www.act.org/aap/writing/index.html.
