Church Partnership Application Form

The Purpose
This program provides an opportunity for a local church to encourage and support those from its congregation who seek continued spiritual growth and career preparation through attending Greenville College. In the same way a church supports missions work, the local church can provide financial support to its people as they learn to exemplify Christ to others through their lives and careers. As a partner with Christian families and local churches, Greenville College seeks to help young people become effective Christian servant leaders throughout our country and world.

The Program
When a local church elects to support one of its members attending Greenville College through the Church Partnership Scholarship Program, the college will match up to $1,000 of the church's scholarship. In cases where other non-college sources meet the student's financial need, the college will match the first $200 given by the church. Students must reapply for the Church Partnership Scholarship Program each year.

The Qualifications
Any person enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at Greenville College can participate in the Church Partnership Scholarship Program. The student need not qualify for federal or state assistance to receive the Greenville College Church Partnership Scholarship.

The Process
A student who plans to attend Greenville College should complete the questions on the Church Partnership Scholarship Program application form and submit the entire form to his or her local church for consideration. The church must then determine its desire and ability to assist the student through the Church Partnership Scholarship Program. When the church approves the request for scholarship support, the appropriate church representative should complete the church portion of the application form and send it to the Greenville College Office of Student Financial Services prior to March 1. The church must make the check or money order payable to Greenville College with the student's name noted on the memo line. The church may submit the scholarship funds with the application form or send the payment to Student Financial Services by August 15. The college will apply the matching award against the student's spring semester charges. Greenville College will provide the matching scholarship funding on a first come first serve basis until demand exceeds the available scholarship resources.

The Exceptions
Due to government regulations, Greenville College may adjust a student's award if receipt of the scholarship jeopardizes the student's eligibility for government or other forms of assistance.

The Restrictions
The Church Partnership Scholarship Program provides an incentive for local churches to financially support those from their congregation who desire further career and spiritual preparation at Greenville College. Due to federal and state tax regulations, a parent or immediate relative of a Church Partnership Scholarship recipient may not donate to the church's matching scholarship fund. The local church should encourage family members to honor this restriction.
