Getting your VISA/Immigration Information
After you have been accepted to GC, you must pay a $2,000 deposit to
hold your spot for housing and signing up for classes ($200 for
Canadian students). After we receive the deposit, we will issue the
I-20 document. Then, you need to also pay a SEVIS fee of $100. The
information for paying the SEVIS fee using form I-901 can be found at www.fmjfee.com.
Keep your receipt after you pay the fee. Then bring acceptance letter,
the SEVIS fee receipt, your financial statements, and I-20 document to
your American Embassy or Consulate appointment to receive your VISA.
The VISA officer will evaluate your records, your ability to succeed in
the U.S. educational system, and your intention to return to your home
country.
After you receive your VISA, you can begin to make travel
arrangements. Also, GC requires full payment of each semester before
classes begin.
For more information about immigration or getting a VISA please go to EducationUSA website.
Health Services/Insurance Information
Every student must fill out the Certificate of Immunity
before attending GC. International students can visit the local health clinic
upon arrival and pay to receive the immunizations that they do not have
access to in their home country. Each immunization costs money and
time, please be sure to plan accordingly.
Each international student must have health insurance. If you
already have health insurance that will cover you in the United States,
we will need the documentation to prove your coverage. If you not
have insurance, you can purchase the college's insurance. The estimated
cost for the 2006-07 school year is $520.
