Admissions Policy
Greenville College is a community in which individuals
join together to grow academically, personally, and spiritually.
Together we seek to honor Christ by integrating faith and learning
while our hearts and lives reflect mature Christian practice.
Entrance Requirements
Greenville College admits students who desire to
achieve a liberal arts education in an evangelical Christian context.
Members of this community are either committed to Christ or are
sympathetic to the Christian perspective.
Applicants are evaluated by consideration of their academic record,
test scores, references, interviews, and participation in extracurricular
activities.
An exact course distribution is not required, but the College recommends
at least eleven of the minimum sixteen units be in college preparatory
subjects. It is highly recommended that entering students have four
secondary school units of English, one unit each in algebra and
geometry, two units of foreign language, one of laboratory science,
and one of American history. However, each candidate will be evaluated
on the basis of the individual credentials presented to the College
in support of the application.
Greenville College admits students on a rolling basis. Students
receive notification of admission approximately one week after their
admission file is complete. The Admissions Committee reserves the
right to request a personal, on-campus interview with an applicant
before making the final admissions decision.
Greenville College has the right to refuse admission or readmission
for any student at its discretion. The college does not discriminate
in its educational programs or activities on the basis of handicap,
race, creed, color, sex or national origin which is in full compliance
with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the laws of the
State of Illinois.
Conditional Admission
Recognizing the differing backgrounds of students
and allowing for differing rates of intellectual maturity, the College
makes the following exceptions to the usual academic requirements
for a limited number of students:
Transfer students with less than a "C" average may be
admitted on academic probation by special action of the Admissions
Committee if there is reason to expect an improvement in academic
performance.
Past low academic achievement will not be weighed negatively for
veterans of the United States armed forces and other mature students
who have been out of school for several years.
Results of the GED (General Education Development) high school
equivalency test may be required for students not having graduated
from high school.
High school graduates not meeting admission requirements may be
admitted by special action of the Admissions Committee. These students
may be required to enroll in a special academic program as a condition
of their enrollment. Satisfactory completion of this program is
required for continuing enrollment.
