International Student Admission
Greenville College values the mutual benefit experienced
by American students and internationals from learning together in
the classroom and in extracurricular activities. International students
are encouraged to pursue a Greenville College education.
Due to the additional admissions information international students
are asked to supply, it is important the application process is
started as early as possible. Communication between the student
and the Office of Admissions can be enhanced and quickened if a
student can supply an e-mail address and/or a fax number for follow-up
communication.
In addition to meeting the regular admissions requirements, international
students are required to supply the following information:
- Academic transcripts translated to English (if assistance is
needed with the translation of a transcript, please contact World
Education Service for assistance)
- A financial statement: Declaration of Finances: International Student Certification of
Finances 2003-2004 (.pdf ~56k)
- Demonstrated English proficiency
Federal regulations require colleges admitting international students
to confirm the student's financial resources. This is accomplished
by submission of a Declaration or Finances, Affidavit of Financial
Support, or a bank statement showing adequate financial resources.
International students, and other students, for whom English is
not the native language are required to demonstrate proficiency
in the English language. The English language requirement of the
College will be met when the applicant has submitted a score of
500 or better on the TOEFL, or completed level 109 at an ELS Language
Center. Additional course work in English reading, writing, or conversation
may be required of some students.
Greenville College provides financial assistance to a limited number
of international students each year. Recipients are determined based
on financial need and usually consist of those from third-world
countries. Before an I-20 Form can be sent to an international student,
documentation showing evidence of the entire cost of education (including
whatever aid may come from the school) must be received by the Office
of Admissions.
For more information about international student admissions, please
use the online request form.
Special Student Admission
Students who wish to take academic course work
toward a degree or license, attain qualifications for advancement,
or simply improve themselves may be admitted as Special Students.
Also, students who cannot attain admission to a full-time degree
program may be considered for Special Student admission.
Guest Admission
Students enrolled in good standing in a degree program
at another academic institution who wish to complete course work
for transfer to that institution may be granted guest admission.
The admission process requires approval and recommendation from
the student's present college.
Home School Student Admission
Greenville College welcomes home schooled students
to apply for admission. Greenville College requires home schooled
students to submit the information required for freshman admission.
Applicants are evaluated by consideration of their academic record,
test scores, references, interviews, and participation in extracurricular
activities. If a discrepancy is evident between the home school
grades and the results of the standardized test scores, a student
may be asked to submit the results of the GED (General Education
Development) high school equivalency test. These students may be
required to enroll in a special academic program as a condition
of their enrollment; satisfactory completion of this program is
required for continuing enrollment.
