Advanced Placement

AP (Advanced Placement) credits earned in high school are accepted for Greenville College. Students who enter with a 3, 4, or 5 in areas equivalent to Greenville College courses will be granted credit.

The credit will be treated like transfer credit and be placed on the transcript (please note that Greenville College has the right to change these requirements at its discretion).

International Baccalaureate

Greenville College gives credit for IB (International Baccalaureate) course work in high school.

CLEP

The college recognizes acceptable CLEP (College Level Examination Program) scores from the General Examination and the Subject Examinations as the basis for academic credit. General education credit may be awarded in English composition, humanities, mathematics, and natural science. Subject Examinations available for credit include:

  • American Literature
  • Analysis and Interpretation of Literature
  • Chemistry
  • Introduction to Educational
  • Psychology
  • Introduction to Accounting
  • Principles of Macroeconomics
  • Principles of Microeconomics
  • College French
  • College Spanish

Course Waiver by Examination
The following three academic departments give placement examinations at the beginning of each school year and waive course requirements for acceptable scores:

  • Music Theory
  • Mathematics
  • Biology

Course Waiver for Prior Learning
A course waiver may be considered for prior work or other experiences by request to the Dean of Academic Affairs and the head of the specific department in which the course waiver is requested. For more information, please contact Dr. Jim Plett, Dean of Academic Affairs.
