- If you have definite ideas and interests relating to your college
experience, and...
- If you are capable of self-direction in setting and achieving
goals, and...
- If none of the majors offered by Greenville College fulfills
your college and/or career expectations...
Then perhaps ITEP is just what you need.
The Individually Tailored Educational Plan offers a student the
opportunity to design a college program that is uniquely personalized.
With the counsel of an advisor, the student selects a course curriculum
which provides him opportunity to reach the educational goals of
Greenville College in a way individually appropriate and satisfying.
In planning the curriculum, consideration is given not only to future
goals but to past preparation and achievement.
The basic requirement for graduation under ITEP is successful completion
of thirty-three courses. Twelve courses must be upper division with
a concentration of eight courses in one department, or the student
may prefer to create a special area major of twelve courses in more
than one department to meet a career objective. Credit by examination
is an option for up to eight lower division courses.
Any student enrolled at Greenville College is eligible to apply
for admission to ITEP. The student should select an academic advisor
who will understand his needs, abilities, interests, educational
background, and personal goals. Cooperatively they develop an educational
program to be submitted to the Vice President for Academic Affairs
for approval. Course selections should be in accord with the Greenville
College objectives as stated in the catalog and should be goal-oriented.
Non-traditional learning experiences may be included as part of
the curriculum. The resulting plan applies the concept of "learning
contracts" to the student's entire curriculum.
ITEP programs have been as varied as students are individual. A
sampling of areas in which programs have been completed includes
church history, human relations, and cross-cultural communications.
