Greenville College makes opportunities available to students to earn credit through off-campus study. Students are encouraged to consider spending at least one semester gaining the enrichment of cross-cultural experience or learning in an unusual environment. In all of the programs listed below, students remain enrolled through Greenville College and pay regular Greenville tuition. Some programs require additional travel costs or special room and board costs. Additional information may be obtained at the Academic Enrichment Center. Contemporary Music Center (CMC)
The Contemporary Music Center offers you the opportunity to spend a semester studying, living and working with faculty, music industry experts and other students who share your interest in making and marketing contemporary music. It is a chance to devote some serious time to discovering how God would have you integrate your faith and your love of music in the marketplace.

The program isn't just for music majors� it's for any student considering a career as a musician, vocalist, songwriter, producer, engineer, artist manager, booking agent, A&R director, marketing executive, music publisher, concert promoter or entertainment industry entrepreneur.

American Studies (ASP)
In this Washington, DC program, students study public policy issues in semester-long seminar classes and serve as interns in government service or other organizations. Juniors and seniors who qualify for the program live and study with other Christian students from throughout the country.

Latin American Studies (LASP)
Junior or senior students may spend a four-month term in Costa Rica. Through language study, seminars, living/eating with Costa Rican families, all under the coordination of a full-time director, students are exposed to the economic, political and religious diversity of Latin America. A minimum of one-year equivalency of college-level Spanish is a prerequisite.

Los Angeles Film Studies (LAFSC)
At the Los Angeles Film Studies Center in Burbank, California, junior or senior students take courses and participate in internships. Students learn how the film industry works and identify ethical challenges in it while developing a Christian perspective on the nature and influence of film.

Russian Studies (RSP)
Junior or senior students receive basic Russian language instruction and participate in seminars on Russian history, politics, economics and religious life. The first two weeks are spent in Moscow, followed by 10 weeks in Nizhni Novgorod, concluding with a three week stay in St. Petersburg.

Middle East Studies (MESP)
While based in Cairo, Egypt, junior or senior students participate in language and seminar programs designed to broaden their knowledge and ability to interact with Middle Eastern cultures. The inter-disciplinary seminars are titled, "People and Cultures of the Middle East", "Islam and the Modern World", and "Conflict and Change in the Middle East Today".

China Studies (CSP)
Join students from across North America to discover the richness of China through a new, unique living/learning semester abroad-the China Studies Program (CSP). You will explore the complex past of one of the world's oldest cultures; experience the economic, political and social realities of contemporary China; and look ahead to study China's challenges as a rapidly emerging world power.

Oxford Honors Program (OHP)
The Oxford Honors Program is a partnership program with the Centre for Medieval & Renaissance Studies, affiliated with Keble College of the University of Oxford. Under the guidance of the Council-appointed program director, you will work through two self-designed tutorials and an interactive seminar. In addition, you will participate in a semester-long course designed specifically to guide you on faith and learning issues as you study in this challenging environment.

Explore areas of your major field of study or of special interest by designing your own tutorial curriculum. Interdisciplinary in scope, the OHP provides course options in a wide array of subjects, including: Architecture, Art, Art History, European History, Greek, Latin, European Languages, Literature, Drama, Classics, Writing, Law, Philosophy, Political Science, History of Science, Biblical and Religious Studies.

Other Programs

AuSable Trails Institute
AuSable Trails Institute, located near Mancelona, Michigan, is designed to support Greenville College and other cooperating evangelical Christian colleges in courses which focus on Christian stewardship of natural resources. The Institute offers fellowships, scholarships, and travel grants to students; opportunities for service, research and teaching for faculty; and opportunities to discuss and debate major environmental issues of concern to Christians.

African Studies - Daystar University
Through the Christian College Consortium and Messiah College, students from Greenville College may join over 300 African students who study at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya. Students select courses from a number of areas including communications, business administration and management, education, Bible, history, literature, and African culture. All courses are offered in English. Supplemental learning is gained through excursions to museums, art galleries and various communities around Nairobi. Students live with African students or families and eat in the college dining room. The cost for tuition, room and board, and travel is the same as that charged for tuition and room and board on the Greenville College campus.

Institute for Family Studies - Focus on the Family
Junior and senior students in good standing may spend 15 weeks in Colorado Springs at the Focus on the Family Headquarters discovering the causes and cures for fractured families, and becoming equipped to reverse current societal trends with positive Christian values. This is accomplished through both on-site student programs and field experiences.

Ireland Studies - Inch House Irish Studies Centre
The GC in Ireland Program intends to help college students expand their cross-cultural awareness by studying and experiencing the Celtic culture of Ireland. To do so, they will study Irish literature, history, art, and sociology as their core courses. They will also be able to select from other course options, including Celtic Christianity; Irish music and dance; Irish language; and, pending our ability to arrange them, a variety of internships. Field trips every other weekend and two week-long field trips will allow students to interact with Ireland 's people and to experience first-hand the beauty of the land and the sites associated with the art, literature, and history that they have studied. Students will worship regularly in local churches.

Summer Study in Santiago
The Summer Study in Santiago program originated in the 1970's and thrived in the 1980's as a partnership between Greenville College and Taylor University in the U.S.A. and the Instituto Evangelico (under the supervision of Doña Olga Estevez) in Santiago, Dominican Republic.  Among countless other benefits that travel abroad affords the student, our primary objective is to proide the undergraduate with an intesive language study opportunity; exposure to and interaction with the culture of the Dominican Republic specifically and the Hispanic culture in general; a practical internship in various areas of specialization; and an opportunity for community service in the name of Jesus Christ.
