Church and para-church leaders no longer view the Youth Minister
as an entry level position. The Church recognizes the pressure young
people face every day and seeks to find dedicated men and women
who will answer the call to minister to this lost generation.
The Youth Minister works diligently to satisfy the challenges of
this career. If you enjoy working with young people, you will find
satisfaction with eternal rewards as you fulfill the "Great Commission."
An Expanded Classroom
Greenville College's Youth Ministry Major can prepare
you to effectively minister to the needs of contemporary youth.
Throughout history, many revolutionary changes originated with the
ideas of the world's youth. Studies reveal that 80% of Christians
accept Christ before age 18. Realizing the power full force created
by these two facts, Greenville recognized the importance of professional
full-time youth ministry.
Today, youth ministers must effectively handle problems facing
teens such as suicide, low self-esteem, divorce, sexual pressures,
the occult, and decreasing parental guidance. The youth minister
must also know who to work with church officials. The combination
of classroom learning and practical experience during an internship
will give you the preparation you want to serve in a local church,
Youth for Christ, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Greenville
College can meet your needs.
