Greenville College Interns Serve in a Variety of Ministries
Students majoring in Pastoral Ministry, Urban & Cross-Cultural
Ministry or Youth Ministries at Greenville must complete an internship
sometime in their college careers.
This summer sixteen students were deployed in a variety of location
and ministry settings. The venues in which students gained invaluable
pratical experience in ministry range from local congregations to
summer camping ministries and an itinerant team of Christian musicians.
Several denominations and traditions are also involved in providing
such internship experiences, including: The United Methodist Church,
the Evangelical Free Church, The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod,
the Southern Baptist Convention, and the Free Methodist Church as
well as independant congregations and para-church ministries. Students
dispersed from the Greenville campus to internships based in Georgia,
Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington
and Wisconsin states.
Upon their return to campus this fall, these students met in a
debriefing session where each presented a case study based on their
summer experience.
This summer's interns are working under the supervision of Dr.
Joe Culumber, assistant professor of religion at Greenville College.
