RESUME PREPARATION: Personal assistance with resume writing is available to help students develop professional resumes which best present their skills, abilities, and qualifications. Resume examples, related handouts, and other printed materials are located in the CRC. Students may use the computer and printer in the CRC to print resumes, cover letters, thank you letters, etc.

INTERVIEW SKILLS: Individual assistance is available to develop effective interviewing skills. Students can also participate in a videotaped mock interview in order to help polish their interviewing skills.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS: Workshops are offered each semester on resume writing, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, how to make the most of a job fair, and related professional development topics.

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION & INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS: Relevant career experience is the key to securing professional employment. Through co-op and internship programs, students have the opportunity to explore career interests and gain relevant experience. The program is designed to integrate academic learning experiences with paid, planned, and supervised work experiences. Many employers recruit from their company sponsored co-op and internship programs for full-time candidates. Co-op and internship jobs coordinated through the Office of Career Services can be used to fulfill academic internship requirements. Registration with Career Services is required.

CO-OP GRANT PROGRAM: Greenville College has participated in the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) co-op grant program since 1994. Student wages are funded through the grant for actual hours worked at approved employer sites. Co-op sites must be with an Illinois organization and operate independently from the College. Students must be an Illinois resident, be in good academic standing, and have earned a minimum of 22 college credits. Funds are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. A co-op is considered to be an experiential learning opportunity and is appropriate for students who want to explore their career interests. Any student in any major, or those undeclared, may enroll in co-op.

JOB POSTINGS: Full-time, part-time, co-op, and internship employment opportunities are filed in binders located in the CRC and on our website. Local employment opportunities are also posted on the bulletin boards in the CRC. Additional job posting databases such as AJB and JobTrak are featured under the links section from the Career Services web page.

RECRUITMENT PROGRAMS: Employers visit the campus to recruit students for a variety of employment opportunities. Recruitment schedules are posted in the CRC and web page.

JOB FAIRS: Job fairs are sponsored each year to facilitate students in obtaining company information and/or meet employers who are hiring for part-time, co-op, internship, and career positions. Career Services is a member of the Gateway Career Services Association (GCSA), and also co-sponsors the job fairs held at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. Appropriate attire and resumes are required in order to participate in job fair and campus recruiting activities. Refer to the Upcoming Events section for job fair locations and dates.
