Endowment as follows:

1. Name:
V. JAMES AND FLORENCE MANNOIA LECTURESHIP IN CHRISTIAN HIGHER EDUCATION AND MISSIONS

V. James Mannoia Sr.
Pew Bench at Wilmore House

It was to Christian higher education that Rev. Dr. V. James Mannoia and his wife Florence Eva Mannoia dedicated a substantial portion of their half-century of shared ministry. At Spring Arbor College as professor of philosophy and chaplain, at the Faculdade de Teologia da Igreja Metodista Livre in Sao Paulo Brasil as President, and at Asbury Theological Seminary as professor and director of supervised ministries, Jim and Florence Mannoia valued the twin values of educated mind and warm heart. They reached out to students across continents and over half a century, and came to be known for their love for ideas and people but mostly for their love of their Lord Jesus.

2. Purpose:

To support an annual lectureship on the campus of Greenville College focused on current themes in Christian Higher Education and Missions.

3. Principal Held in Perpetuity:

The Board of Directors of the Greenville College Foundation establishes the annual distribution. The distribution rate as of 6/30/01 is five percent (5%). The principal shall be held in perpetuity.

4. Selection of Lecturer:

The Lectureship should be awarded to an individual chosen by the Academic Vice-President with a list of recommendations to be made by consensus between the chair of the department of Philosophy and Religion and the chair of the department of Education.

Past Lecturers
2006 Wayne McCown
"A Wesleyan View of Christian Higher Education"
2005 Howard Snyder
2004 Mike Petersen
2003 David McKenna

5. Topic of Lecture:

The topic may be on Christian higher education or on the role of education in Christian missions.

6. Use of funds:

The funds must be used to pay a stipend to the recipient for a major lecture(s) to be delivered on campus and available to all students. It may also be used to cover transportation and meal costs for the lecturer. It is assumed that the college will cover costs for a small brochure/program to be produced annually, for any added publicity deemed appropriate, and for refreshments or meals, which form a part of the lectureship. While the specific percentage of the payout to be used for the stipend itself is not fixed, in order to assure high quality of preparation and significance, it is assumed that at least 60% of the payout will go directly to the lecturer for stipend.
