hands Purpose
To lay the groundwork for the long-term work of dismantling racism in Mennonite and Brethren in Christ congregations, conferences and institutions by training teams* from those organizations.

Greenville College Damascus Road Team

Goals
To provide each team with ...

  • a biblical basis, grounded in the Anabaptist tradition, for dismantling racism;
  • a basic analytical framework for dismantling racism;
  • skills for dismantling racism in institutions and congregations;
  • a structure for long-term follow-up training and accountability for dismantling racism

Outcomes
Each team will complete the training with ...

  • a shared analysis of institutional racism;
  • familiarity with basic anti-racism educational and organizational skills;
  • the ability to conduct a one-hour to one-day introductory anti-racism workshop;
  • a preliminary design for dismantling racism in their institution.

*Teams
Regional introductory workshops provide opportunity for individuals to participate in Damascus Road training. Primary emphasis however, is given to developing teams to work at long-term, system-wide transformation. Please note: Full-time participation is required for all participants. Teams will be given tasks before and after the trainings with the expectations that they will carry this work forward in their respective institutions.
