Senior Luke Hall Honored with Lincoln Laureate Award
Scholar Scored 41 on the MCAT for Medical School

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Luke Hall, a senior pre-medicine major, was recognized in chapel November 4 after being selected as the Greenville College 2002 Lincoln Laureate. Luke is the son of Donald and Brenda Hall of Harrisburg, Ill.

Each year the Lincoln Academy presents Student Laureate awards to outstanding seniors in four-year colleges and universities throughout the state of Illinois who demonstrate overall excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities.

Hall will travel to Springfield this fall to receive a medal, a certificate of achievement, and a check for $150. Each award is presented by Governor George Ryan.

After choosing to apply to medical school within the past year, Hall took the Medical College Admission Test, also known as the MCAT, and scored a 41, well above 99% of those who took the test. He plans to become a medical doctor.

Luke gives credit to the Greenville science division for much of his success. "The professors at Greenville truly care about students as people and make sacrifices to help them in their classes and in other areas of life as well," Hall said. "This very personal interaction with high quality professors is one of the things that makes Greenville special."

Greenville College is a four-year accredited Christian liberal arts school with more than 1,200 traditional undergraduate, graduate, and adult degree completion students. Founded in 1892 and affiliated with the Free Methodist Church, the college is located in Greenville, Ill., 45 miles east of St. Louis.
