Greenville
College
continues its history of quality teacher education with an award from the
Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), which the ISBE awarded the college
and Dr. Ed Blue for their outstanding accreditation review and for training a
group of 30 new state education team members.
The
college, which passed the state certification with the highest recommendations,
hosted the state team last June. Dr. Blue has been commended for providing
other schools with assistance in meeting the accreditation and state
proficiency education standards.
This
is the first time the ISBE has recognized a college for their proficiency at
addressing state and national requirements. Greenville College
was also recognized for hosting a training session for new education board
members.
“We
have 30 new, well qualified team members,” said Marti Woelfle of the Department
of Certification and Teacher Development. “Greenville College
opened its doors last summer and provided us with the most comprehensive mock
review in the history of the board. The college really went above and beyond.” Chairman
of the ISBE, Randy Dunn, expressed his gratitude: “Illinois State Teacher
Certification
Board
and the state Superintendent of Education extend their grateful appreciation to
Greenville College
and its Education Department for their hard work and dedication to the Illinois professional education community, the schools
they serve, and the children of Illinois.”
“We
can never begin to thank you [Dr. Blue] and the many individuals at Greenville College for your assistance to so many
with the preparations for unit accreditation and program approval,” Woelfle
said of Dr. Blue’s leadership. “You have made a difference in the outcomes for
so many.”
