During
the Campaign Celebration dinner the college unveiled plans to name the new
music center the Whitlock
Music Center
in honor of the Whitlock family. The family donated the $250,000 needed to
complete the third floor of the music center. Over Homecoming Weekend, October
20-22, the college plans to dedicate the Whitlock Music
Center and the James E.
Wilson Recital Hall.
Work
began to complete the third floor of the music center May 15, with plans to
complete the construction by the fall semester. |
The
Greenville College Music Department moved from LaDue
Music Center
across
College Ave.
into the old Free Methodist Church building, the college’s new Music
Center, in the fall of
2005 with the help of the GC football team.
Sophomore
David Row expressed his appreciation for the new facilities “As a student who
nearly lives in the practice rooms, I couldn’t be happier with the new Music Center.
We have tripled the number of rooms and the quality is infinitely better. It’s nice
to have classes, practice rooms, performance halls, and professors all in the
same building. It makes for more centralized and efficient learning. For the
faculty, the college, and especially the students, the Music Center
is an answered prayer,” said Row.
