Greenville College Homecoming Chapel Features CPA Paul Donnell

Greenville Native to be Recognized for Outstanding Accomplishments

GREENVILLE, ILL. – Friday morning Homecoming chapel at Greenville College Paul Donnell will receive the college’s Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. Awarded to alums under forty who demonstrate notable accomplishments in their field, an outstanding young alumnus also exemplifies Christ-like character and loyalty to the college.

Paul Donnell serves as a CPA for the international firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Originally hired to audit smaller private companies, Donnell received a promotion to the Global Marketing group in April. In this position he helps companies with IPO and debt registration as well as assisting companies going through mergers and acquisitions. He also helps foreign businesses convert to United States accounting standards.  In a company of over 130,000 employees with 771 offices in 148 countries, Donnell’s group comprises 450 people worldwide and entrance is rigorous.

While Donnell accredits Greenville College with helping him to academically prepare for the CPA exam, he also recognizes GC’s impact in other areas of his success. “The faculty and staff did a nice job of helping students understand what it means to be a part of a community. So often in business people forget about the relationship factor. If you step back and think about what the other person is trying to accomplish, if you figure out what they are trying to do with an audit, and not just what your goals are, it helps drive success,” said Donnell

Donnell also volunteers with the United Way serving on the United Way Venture Investment Fund as a panel member. He evaluates existing and new non-profits who want money for a start-up project. He reviews grant proposals, performs site visits, and helps determine what amount groups should receive.
