Traditional Enrollment Tops 1,000 Print E-mail

410 New Students, 1003 Total Traditional Students

W ith the incoming class surpassing 400 students, traditional enrollment has broken the 1,000 barrier. Vice President of Enrollment Dr. Pepper Dill attributes the growth to the consistency and expertise of the admissions counselors and leadership by the director of admissions. “We’ve built sound systems that assist us in attracting and communicating with prospective students and their parents,” said Dr. Dill, “but it is the strengths of the people who implement those systems and their practical experience that make the difference. It is the right people who are disciplined enough to keep doing the right things over and over again.”

Being an alum gives Director of Admissions Michael Ritter a unique perspective in recruiting new students. “Working in Admissions keeps me focused on the college’s future, and I’m really excited about the prospects for future growth. I strongly believe that Greenville’s best days are ahead of us, and that gives me immense pride as an alum,” said Ritter.

Non-traditional Program Growth

President James Mannoia adds that our focus also includes our nontraditional programs. “We have not only prepared for a large incoming class in our traditional programs but we have also been working to ensure that our non-traditional programs thrive. When adult and graduate students complete registration later this fall, total enrollment is expected to reach approximately 1450.”

New Dormitory

With all this growth, the college is bursting at the seams. Full dorms have led college administrators to review future options for additional housing. In late July, the executive committee of the board of trustees approved an $8 million bond issue. The bond will provide $3.7 million for the construction of a new freshman residence hall, $1.5 million for remodeling existing residences, and $2.8 million to refinance existing debt. The new facility will be located at the south end of Snyder parking lot, just behind the Snyder science building and will house 101 students. Currently the college plans to break ground on the new dorm in October and complete the new 80-100 bed residence by August of 2007.

Chapel Extension

Since the James E. Wilson Recital Hall can only accommodate 650 students, the college’s growth has also lead to overflow chapel services. Serving as the designated overflow area, Ladue Auditorium accommodates another several hundred students. Chapel is broadcast to this location on a large projector screen.
