    Baseball Team
For the first time in their 11-year affiliation with the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC),the Greenville College baseball team concluded their regular season as league champions. Their record of 15-5 in SLIAC play produced the highest seed in the SLIAC tournament where they narrowly lost to Webster 6-4 in the championship game. The Panthers wrapped up the 2006 season with a record of 22-20.

As a result of their exceptional season, the Panthers were recognized with a number of individual postseason honors. The SLIAC voted freshman first baseman Stefan Neece, and Baseball Wins Top Conference Honors sophomore pitcher Andy Rincker, members of the SLIAC all-conference first team. Neece batted .368 with a team-leading 10 home runs and 52 RBIs to pace the Panther hitting attack. SLIAC coaches also elected Neece as the SLIAC Newcomer of the Year and SLIAC Co-Player of the Year. Rincker fashioned an 8-2 record with an earned run average of 3.61 as the top performer on the pitching staff.

Head Baseball Coach Lynn Carlson, in his tenth season at the helm of the Panther baseball program, was selected by his peers as SLIAC Coach of the Year for the first time in his tenure. During the season, Carlson earned his 200th career win and ended the season with an overall record of 210-188-2. Carlson’s 210 career wins currently rank second to Dave Altopp’s 294 wins on the all-time list for Panther baseball coaches.
