15th Annual Walkabout

Vice President and Dean of Student Development, Norm Hall, shared the following regarding this summer's Walkabout trip. "Greenville College Student Development Staff delivered their 15th annual Walkabout this year taking 56 students and staff on a 10-day backpacking trip, punctuated by a 48-hour time of prayer and fasting alone in the mountains. The fact that we experienced intense lightning, thunder and heavy rain more than any other year only seemed to intensify the presence of the Holy Spirit. Notable leader attendees included Trustee Dennis Fenton, Dr. Richard Lombardini and Coach Lynn Carlson. As the student leaders emerged from the trails they were met by two special guests, Dr. Randy Bergen and Mr. Walter Fenton. Walkabout

Soft whispers of yesterday's morning dew
seeping through the clouds as silence
awakens a restful soul

Raindrops fall peacefully as limbs sway without a care
thoughts roam as 48 hours brings about 48 reasons
to thank God for his more than 48 blessings

Branches break as we mentally break
the dawn, the barriers that demobilized our spiritual growth

Moonlit tears as stories were told
Shivers set in and days grow old

Prayers increased as it all came to an end...
where old friendships flourished and new friendships began
