Aubree Schreder Runs to 82nd Place Finish at NCAA Championships

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The first appearance of a Greenville College women's cross country runner at the NCAA Division III national championships was memorable Saturday as freshman Aubree Schreder of Waterloo, Ill., placed 82nd in the event, running a time of 22 minutes, 17.8 seconds at the Max Cross Country six-kilometer course in Waverly, Iowa.  The field included 279 runners.

Schreder crossed the finish line sixth among freshman entries and improved among the midwest region's individual entries in the event with sixth place.  She placed seventh among the region's individual national qualifiers one week ago.  In addition, she was the 19th midwest runner to complete the course after being 23rd last week.

Schreder's time was her second best over a six-kilometer course and two tenths of a second better than her regional time.

In addition to accolades as the first Greenville participant in the women's national cross country meet, Schreder was the SLIAC champion, SLIAC runner of the year, SLIAC newcomer of the year, and SLIAC first team all-conference in 2010.

Wendy Pavlus, a senior of St. Lawrence, was the individual national champion, finishing in 20:49.3.

Middlebury took the team national championship, and Washington - St. Louis, an opponent on Greenville's schedule multiple times in 2010, was runner-up.
