Baker's NCAA Record, Triple Double Lead Women's Basketball to OT Win

Published: April 13, 2021

CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- The efforts of sophomore Coley Baker had historical significance Saturday afternoon as the Lady Panther from Mazon, Ill., posted the first triple double of her college career and tied an NCAA Division III single-game record for blocked shots in the Lady Panthers 74-70 overtime win over Blackburn.

Baker's line included 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 18 blocked shots as she tied the Division III record set by Laurie Miller of Eastern Mennonite on Jan. 21, 1995. In the midst of her second season as a Lady Panther, Baker already owns the GC women's basketball career record for blocks with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Greenville's leading scorer in the game was freshman Claire Schmitt who tallied 23 points to tie Blackburn's Shelby Smith as the game's top scorer.

Miranda Murray totaled 15 points as she came off the bench, and Jamie Schollenbruch had 10 rebounds and three steals.

Blackburn held a six-point advantage at halftime, and Greenville outscored Blackburn by six in the second half. Greenville won 11-7 in the overtime period.

The Lady Panthers (8-12, 5-8 SLIAC) resume their season Wednesday at home against Webster at 6 p.m.
