Baseball comes up short in two games

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The baseball team's bats were kept at bay until the seventh inning of the second game on Saturday as they dropped a pair of games in Birmingham.

The Panthers lost to Transylvania 2-0 in game one and followed that with a 15-5 loss in eight innings in game two.

Greenville was limited to two hits against Transylvania.

Jonah Moore provided five innings of one hit relief as he struck out five.

Birmingham Southern piled up 14 runs over the first four innings as they rolled in the second game of the day.

Greenville added four runs in the top of the seventh to make it a 14-5 ballgame.

In Greenville's four run seventh, Adam Lamb scored on a wild pitch, Nate Miller provided a sacrifice fly, and Nathen Steen and Danny Strohm had RBI singles.

Dillon Reel picked up the loss when he gave up eight runs in two innings.

Devin Mayfield came into the game in relief and pitched 3 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball.

The Panthers (0-3) travel to Washington-St. Louis on Saturday.
