Baseball Drops Series Opener to Washington University 9-5

ST. LOUIS, Ill. Greenville Baseball (2-12) kicked off the first of a three game series with the Bears of Washington University St. Louis on Friday with a 9-5 loss at Kelly Field. Senior Kyle Hobar, who batted 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, led the Panthers in the loss.

On the mound, Greenvilles Michael Wittmer was charged with the loss, posting five innings of work with four earned.

Using timely hitting and aggressive running along the base paths the Bears manufactured big innings in the first and in the eighth to secure win and deal GC the loss.

GC will wrap up the series on Saturday as they play host to WashU in an afternoon double header from Robert E. Smith Field.
